All diseased or unfit meat was disposed of for use as knacker's meat or in the
manufacture of animal feeding preparations.
Of the 1,019 horses slaughtered for human consumption, 958 were intended for
export.

During the year one new Licence was issued and fourteen Licences renewed.
Fourteen slaughtermen held current Licences at 31st December.

Routine inspections are carried out by Inspectors to ensure compliance with the
requirements of these statutes.
