    Whooping Cough. With 529 cases, whooping cough showed a substantial increase over the figures for the previous year, which were in themselves greater than average. The proportions in the different age groups were much the same as previously.

    The Council has continued to support voluntary organisations in the provision of a chiropody service for elderly persons. There has been found to be a very wide demand for treatment and by the end of the year the following clinics were established, as the result of grants made to the Islington Old People's Welfare Council.
