Slaughter of Animals Act, 1933.
Slaughter of Animals (Amendment) Act, 1954.
Slaughtermen's Licences.
The Slaughter of Animals (Amendment) Act, 1954, having received Royal
assent, came into operation on 1st October. This statute amends very considerably
the Slaughter of Animals Act, 1933, particularly in relation to the issue of slaughtermen's
licences, which will in future be issued annually instead of for a three-year
period. This Act provides that a licence shall in future specify :—
(a) the kinds of animals which may be slaughtered or stunned by the holder
of the licence, and
(b) the types of instrument which may be used by him for slaughtering or
stunning any such animals.
