The Sanitary Inspector and the Rodent Officer made joint quarterly inspections
of four hospitals in the borough and the Hospital Management Committee was
informed of any matters which required attention.
Representatives of the Public Health Department attended three meetings of
the Workable Area Committee during the year.
With the approval of the Committee, members of the Rodent Control staff
were allowed to attend a one-day refresher course run by the Ministry of Agriculture
and Fisheries during the year. The Council also agreed to the attendance of the
Rodent Officer at a course in Pest Control.
Sewer Treatments.
Two routine sewer treatments were carried out during the year in connection
with which the co-operation of the Borough Engineer and his staff was appreciated.
Because of staff shortages difficulties was experienced by the Borough Engineer in
supplying the necessary assistance during the year. Arrangements were made,
however, with the Council's Contractors for the necessary labour to be provided.

In addition a special treatment was arranged, upon the request of the Ministry
of Agriculture and Fisheries, in which the poison 1,080 was used- Baits were laid
at 34 manholes, 33 by this Council and 1 by the L.C.C. The results of the treatment
of the 3 3 manholes by this Department are detailed below :—

Water Supplies.
The Metropolitan Water Board continues to be the responsible authority for
the supply of water to this Borough.
Public Health (London) Act, 1936—Section 95.
(1) Water supplies to tenement houses.
40 notices were served under this section requiring the provision of water
supplies to tenement houses.
