Public Health (London) Act, 1936—Sections 40 and 109.
Consequent upon Notices served by the Sanitary Inspectors under Sections 40
and 109 respectively, of the Public Health (London) Act, 1936, the Council, in
pursuance of their powers under this Act to carry out urgent sanitary and drainage
work in default, executed work amounting to a total of £1,451.
Issue of Licences.
In May of this year, the issue of licences became the responsibility of the
Borough Engineer consequent upon the retirement of the Council's Licensing Officer.
I am indebted to the Borough Engineer for the following information in respect
of the total number of licences issued during the year, together with details of the
number of licences issued in respect of Statutory Notices served by this Department.
The value of the licences issued is also submitted. The total percentage of licences
issued in respect of Nuisance Notices was 19% of the total allocation.

On the 1st July, the free limit was raised to £200, thus enabling owners of
property to spend more on houses, and this fact should assist property owners in
complying with notices served under the Public Health (London) Act, 1936.
