Acute Poliomyelitis and Polioencephalitis.
1951 was fortunately a year with very little poliomyelitis. In general
poliomyelitis is associated with long spells of warm, sunny weather and in this respect
1951, particularly the second half, was a poor year. This may have had an effect
upon the incidence of poliomyelitis, but our information on this matter at present
is too incomplete to dogmatise.
