Of the formal samples taken, two milk samples were found to be adulterated,
being slightly deficient in non-fatty solids ; the smoked salmon was found to be fish
other than smoked salmon ; the blood elixir was incorrectly labelled ; the beef was
reported to be horse flesh and the Hangover Cure was not labelled with the
ingredients.
Meat and Other Foods.
The owners of four private slaughter houses renewed their licences. None of
these premises however, was used during the year owing to the Government's
scheme of centralised slaughtering.
The Metropolitan Cattle Market, which is under the control of the Ministry
of Food, was visited on 12 occasions by the Meat and Food Inspector for the purpose
of inspecting imported and other meat.
One slaughter house for horses was licensed.
The Report of the Manufactured Meat Products Working Party was issued
during the year, and it is hoped that new legislation will be made in the very near
future, which will enable the recommendation of the Working Party to be adequately
enforced.

23 Licences were granted.
1 new licence issued during the year.

No prosecutions were taken during the period under review.
