Tuberculosis.
The notification rate for new cases of pulmonary tuberculosis was 2.34 per 1,000
population as against 2.18 for 1947, representing an increase of 6.8 per cent. The
increase was greater in males than in females. There was also a decrease in the
deaths due to Pulmonary Tuberculosis—0.65 per 1,000 population against 0.70 in
1947. There was an increase in notifications and in deaths due to tuberculosis other
than lung forms.
