BACTERIOLOGICAL EXAMINATION IN CASES OF PUERPERAL
SEPSIS.
During the year no swab was submitted.
SPECIAL BACTERIOLOGICAL OR CHEMICAL EXAMINATIONS.
Most of the work under this heading was in connection with alleged food
poisoning, and the Ministry of Health Laboratory gave us very considerable help
by examining samples submitted to them. In addition, examinations were made of
specimens submitted by practitioners in cases of suspected Scarlet Fever, 7, all
negative ; Dysentery 3, all negative ; Food poisoning, 4 specimens, 3 positive and
1 negative ; Pyrexia of unknown origin, negative.
LEPTOSPIRAL JAUNDICE.
No case of this disease is known to have occurred in Islington, but during the
year the Public Health Committee decided that facilities should be afforded for
bacteriological examination of the blood of Islington sewermen on the application
of local medical practitioners.
