Tuberculosis of the Respiratory System (Phthisis or Pulmonary Tuberculosis),
caused 203 deaths, as contrasted with the decennial average of 270, while
the death-rate was 0.69 per 1,000 of the civil population as against the decennial
rate of 0.85 per 1,000. There was a decrease of 67 on the ten years' average number
of deaths, and of 0.16 on the mean death-rate.
