by "shopkeepers has been taken by the Council, and it has not yet been necessary to
take any proceedings in Court for the enforcement of the provisions of the Act.
Many traders have carried out the work required voluntarily, which has obviated
the necessity of service of notices.
The adequate heating of premises where the following trades are carried on
presented some difficulty, namely, grocery and provisions, fishmongers, greengrocers
and fruiterers. In these instances it is found that either some local form of heat,
the provision of hot water, or a suitably heated room to which the staff can retire
form the best solution. In connecticn with this it may be noted that several butchers
have mentioned that the keeping qualities and appearance of chilled meat nas been
improved since electrical heating has been installed, no doubt due to the drying of
the atmosphere.
Considerable experimental work has been carried out by some firms in the
above-mentioned trades at the suggestion of the Inspector. Owing to the absence
of severe weather, it was not, however, possible to test these installations in the
manner desired.

County Council Swimming Pool at Highbury Fields and at Highbury Ccunty School,
Highbury Grove. In addition, there is a privately owned swimming pool in the rear
of Belmont Hotel, Highbury New Park. This is emptied during the winter months,
and is frequently emptied and cleansed during the summer months.
