Notices Served.—In consequence of the 753 sanitary defects discovered as
the result of the inspections above, 261 intimation and 13 statutory notices were
served. Of these notices, 94 were served on the owners of factories, 83 on the
owners of workshops and workplaces, 16 on the owners of bakehouses, and 66 on
the owners of restaurant kitchens. In addition to these nuisances, 54 were discovered
on Outworkers' premises, necessitating the service of 15 notices. Most of these defects
were remedied, but it was found necessary in one instance to resort to legal
proceedings.
Registers.—There were 2,754 workshops on the Registers as contrasted
with 2,726 in 1935, while the total number of workrooms was 3,872. as compared
with 3,850 in the previous year; 90 workshops were added to the Registers, while
62 were removed from them.
