SUPPLY OF EXTRA NOURISHMENT TO TUBERCULOUS PATIENTS.
Under the Council's Scheme grants of extra nourishment in the form of one
pint of milk and one egg per day are made to tuberculous patients, if so recommended
by the Tuberculosis Officers. During the year 22 patients received such
grants, incurring an expenditure of £20 15s. Od.
Pneumothorax Treatment was administered to sixty-four patients at a
cost of £245 19s. 3d.
Finsen Light Treatment.—One patient received this treatment at a
cost of £4 15s. Od.
Artificial Sunlight Treatment.—No case came under treatment in the
year under review.

TUBERCULOSIS—HOUSING.
530 premises in which resided persons notified during 1936 as suffering from
Tuberculosis came under our observation. 504 visits were made to premises with
a view of ascertaining the sanitary condition generally of the residences of tuberculous
patients and the following statement gives some idea of the conditions which were
found to exist.
A large proportion of the houses were found to be in a good sanitary condition ;
in five instances it was found that the home conditions were rather bad.
