Scarlet Fever.—760 cases were notified, and they showed a decrease of
319 on the average (1,079) of the ten years 1926-35. The attack-rate was equal
to 2.45 per 1,000 of the civil population annually, which is a decrease of 0.91 per
1,000 of the mean rate (3.36) of the preceding ten years. In London the attackrate
was 2.6 per 1,000 of the civil population.
Enteric Fever.—7 cases of Enteric Fever were notified. This is a
decrease of 7 on the average (14) that obtained during the ten years 1926-35.
The attack-rate was 0.02 per 1,000 annually, a decrease of 0.02 per 1,000 of the
mean rate, 0.04, of the last ten years. In London the rate was 0.07.
Puerperal Fever.—See pages 12 and 73.
Erysipelas.—128 cases were notified, and were 31 below the average of the
preceding ten years, the attack-rate being 0.41 per 1,000 of the civil population
FATALITY FROM THE PRINCIPAL NOTIFIABLE
INFECTIOUS DISEASES.
By "Fatality" is meant the percentage proportion of deaths to attacks of
sickness.
During the year it was found that of the 1,504 cases notified, 57 deaths
occurred, or 3.1 per cent., which contrasts with an average percentage of 2.7 in
the preceding ten years 1926-35.

Hospital Isolation.—Of the 1,504 cases of infectious disease notified,
1,397 were isolated in hospital, equal to a percentage of 92.2, while only 7.8 per
cent. of the patients were nursed at home.
