PRESERVED FOOD AND ICE CREAM.
On page 67 of last year's Annual Report the registration of premises in respect
of these articles was fully dealt with. In 1932 64 premises were registered, and all
of these remained on. 95 in addition were registered, but during the course of
the year one of these was vacated. The total on the register at the end of the
year", therefore, was 158.
The number of ice cream premises in 1932 was 336. All of these continued in
1933, but one was vacated, leaving 335. 73 additional were registered, so that the
ice cream premises on the register totalled 408 at the end of the year.
PUBLIC HEALTH (CONDENSED MILK) REGULATIONS, 1923 and 1927.
During the year 14 informal samples were taken under the above Regulations.
PUBLIC HEALTH (DRIED MILK) REGULATIONS, 1923 and 1927.
Five informal samples were taken and found in order.
MILK AND DAIRIES (CONSOLIDATION) ACT, 1915.

MILK AND DAIRIES ORDER, 1926.
Proceedings were instituted for 9 offences under the Milk and Dairies Order,
1926, against 8 persons, service of one summons not being effected. Four of the
summons were for carrying on the trade of Purveyor of Milk without being
registered, 1 for failing to keep clean the interior of a vehicle used for the conveyance
of milk, 2 for filling and closing a milk bottle in the street instead of on
registered premises, in one case both the roundsman and his employer were
proceeded against, the employer being fined £2 2s. Od. and £2 2s. Od. costs, and
the roundsman £1 and £1 costs. The other 2 summonses were for aiding,
abetting, counselling and procuring in the commission of an offence, viz., carrying
on the trade of purveyor of milk without being registered in the district; in one of
these the defendant had absconded, the other was dismissed on the grounds of
insufficient evidence. The latter defendant has since left the district.
Milk Purveyors and Dairies. At the close of the year there were 734
milk purveyors and dairies on the register, 48 having been added to it, while 12
were removed. The District Sanitary Inspectors paid 914 visits to them, and
served 54 notices for the carrying out of various sanitary improvements and the
cleansing of dirty utensils.

(SPECIAL DESIGNATIONS) ORDER, 1923.
