POPULATION (ESTIMATED).
The number of the population at mid-year 1933 is estimated at 319,100*
persons. There was, therefore, a decrease in the population of 2,695, when
compared with the number of inhabitants ascertained at the census in 1931.
MARRIAGES.
Marriages, 2,486; Marriage Rate, 15-6.—There were 4,972 persons
married or 2,486 marriages, in 1933, and the marriage rate, that is to say, the
number of persons married per 1,000 of the population was 15.6. Compared with
the previous year these figures show a decrease of 742 in the number of persons
married, or of 371 marriages; and of 2.0 per 1,000 in the rate.
