The London County Council asked for the Borough Council's proposals not
later than the 30th June, 1933, and the Borough Council submitted to the London
County Council particulars of their five year plan. This plan contains clearance
areas, improvement areas and closing orders. The clearance areas concerned
houses in Highbury, Lower Holloway, Thornhill and Canonbury Wards, to a total
number of 31. The improvement areas deal with houses in Barnsbury, Highbury,
Lower Holloway, St. Peter's, Thornhill and Tollington Wards, the total number
of houses concerned being 328; the closing orders concerned three two-roomed
houses in Highbury.
RECONDITIONING OF HOUSES.
Thirty-three informal notices were served during the year under Section 17 of
the Housing Act, 1930, requiring owners to effect repairs, and in no instance was
it necessary for the authority of the Housing Committee to be obtained for the
issue of a statutory notice. All the notices were complied with. The premises
repaired were:—73, Cheverton Road, 65, 81 and 95, Cornwallis Road, 173, 175,
179 and 181, Fairbridge Road, 192, St. John's Road, 111, Elthorne Road, 50,
Grafton Road, 77, Cottenham Road, 13, Kiver Road, 314 and 359, Hornsey Road,
10, Cromartie Road, 35 and 66, Offord Road, 3, Story Street, 28, Market Street,
42, Arthur Road, 14, Rheidol Terrace, 311, Liverpool Road, 27, St. Clement's
Street, 17, Cornelia Street, 223, Seven Sisters Road, 21, Church Street, 35, Duncan
Terrace, 2, Hanover Street, 28, Canonbury Road, 21, Dagmar Terrace, 32,
Andover Road, and 274, St. Paul's Road.

Neither of the Closing Orders was appealed against and accommodation was provided for the various families as follows:—
