Disinfecting Station, and were cleansed by the nurse whom the Borough Council
appointed for the work, while their clothing was undergoing disinfestation.
The amount paid during the year by the London County Council for the baths
given to the children was £538 14s. Od.
Proceedings were instituted by the London County Council under Section 122
of the Children Act, 1908, during the year in 32 instances. In 4 cases no lines
were imposed and in the remainder the lines ranged from 2s. to 10s.
The total fines amounted to £6 4s. Od.
FACTORY AND WORKSHOP ADMINISTRATION.
The Medical Officer of Health submits the annual report on the manner in
which the provisions of the Factory and Workshops Acts, 1901, were carried out
in his district during the year 1933.

Inspections and Visits.—The inspections and visits made by the three Inspectors were as under :—

Notices Served —In consequence of the 1,148 sanitary defects discovered
as the result of the inspections above, 314 intimation and 17 statutory notices were
served. Of these notices 109 were served on the owners of factories, 121 on the
owneis of the workshops and workplaces, and 22 on the owners of bakehouses
and 61 of restaurant kitchens. In addition to these nuisances, 88 were discovered
on Outworkers' premises, necessitating the service of 8 notices. Most of these
defects were remedied and it was not found necessary to resort to legal proceedings.
Registers.—There wefe 2,658 workshops on the Registers as contrasted
with 2,630 in 1932, while the total number of workrooms were 3,756, as compared
with 3,710 in the previous year; 121 workshops were added to the Registers, while
93 were removed from them.
