There was no unusual or excessive mortality during the year.
POPULATION (ESTIMATED).
The number of the population at mid-year 1932 is estimated at 324,600
persons. There was, therefore, a decrease in the population of 6,137, when
compared with the number of inhabitants ascertained at the census in 1921.

MARRIAGES.
Marriages, 2,857 ; Marriage Rate, 17-6.—There were 5,714 persons
married or 2,857 marriages, in 1932, and the marriage rate, that is to say, the
number of persons married per 1,000 of the population was 17.6. Compared with
the previous year these figures show a decrease of 200 in the number of persons
married, or of 100 marriages; and of 0.6 per 1,000 in the rate.
