SMALL POX.
There were 162 cases notified during the year, of which number 6 were unco
firmed. Of the 156 confirmed cases, 129 were unvaccinated, 25 were vaccinated
infancy, and two were doubtful, there being no evidence of vaccination. Of the
six unconfirmed cases, 4 were unvaccinated and two had been vaccinated in infancy.
The type of small pox was Variola Minor as in the previous year, and its
extreme mildness no doubt tended to be a cause of its spread, as there was considerable
reluctance among contacts in regard to accepting the advice to get
vaccinated, many delaying until the second or third case had occurred.
