Meeting held at Caledonian Road Baths was well attended by both men
and women. Address given by Dr. Feldman.
Open Air Meetings with good results were held at Highbury Corner on
May 28th, June 25th, July 16th and August 7th.
Dr. Feldman addressed "The Rotarians " on the work and purpose of
the British Social Hygiene Council during the year.
DEATHS FROM COAL.GAS POISONING.
During the year 19 deaths were registered from asphyxia caused by the
inhalation of carbon.monoxide gas. Thirteen deaths from the same cause occurred
in 1930.
Eighteen of these deaths were attributable to suicide, while the cause of the
remaining death was accidental, which was investigated at the request of the
Ministry of Health.
Of the 19 deaths, 13 were males and (6 females, the ages ranging from 25 to
75 years.
ACCIDENTAL DEATHS.
The deaths due to accident numbered 132. Of this number 50 deaths were
ascribed to vehicular traffic and 45 to accidental falls, including 42 aged people.
The 50 deaths due to accidents in vehicular traffic may be summarised as
follows:—

Of this number, 2 deaths occurred to Islington residents when in outlying
districts.
In addition to these, 18 non.residents were also killed by vehicles within the
borough.
INQUESTS AND MORTUARY.
During the year 230 bodies were received into the Mortuary, as compared
with an average of 296 in the preceding 10 years.
Only two infectious bodies were received during the year.
The daily average number of bodies received was 0.6, whilst in 1930 the
average was 0.7.
In 65 cases inquests were held, as contrasted with an average of 268 in the
ten years 1921.30.
