Illegitimate Births (223).—The illegitimate births numbered 223 and
show an increase of 16 on the return of the year 1929. They were equal to a rate
of 3.9 per cent. of the total registered births.

Notification of Births Act, 1907; therefore, the total still-births coming to
the knowledge of the Medical Officer of Health during the year was 160
(i.e., 131 + 29) or 28.1 per 1,000 total births (including still-born).
