LOCAL GOVERNMENT ACT, 1929.
An important change was effected by this Act in the transfer of the administration
of the Vaccination Acts to the Borough Council, and the two Vaccination
Officers came under the Public Health Department. The Public Vaccinators who
were under contract with the Guardians had their agreements endorsed and were
taken over by the Borough. These Public Vaccinators are of two classes, the
indoor, consisting of the Public Vaccinators in certain of the former Poor Law
Institutions and Hospitals who were Public Vaccinators only for the inmates, not
staff, of these institutions and hospitals. One of these hospitals was formerly
under the Holborn and Finsbury Guardians, but being within the Borough of
Islington the vaccination functions there were also transferred to Islington. Four
Public Vaccinators came within this category. The second class were the outdoor
Public Vaccinators, ten in number, who were available for the general public.
These were likewise taken over. The following is the public notice issued at the
time of the change:—
