tuberculosis, 30 were suspects, and 364 were not suffering. The nurses of the
Northern Dispensary paid 757 visits, and those of the Southern 1,977, to the homes
of the patients, while the Tuberculosis Officer of the Northern Dispensary made
137 visits, and of the Southern 3'25 visits to the patients' homes for the purpose of
examining them.
Pneumothorax Treatment was also administered to twenty-six patients
at a cost of £89 15s. 6d.
Finsen Light Treatment—Nil.
Artificial Sunlight Treatment.—One case under treatment remained
in the year under review, the total cost of this being ten shillings. This treatment,
as out-patient treatment, has now been discontinued following a recommendation
from the London County Council that it might be given as an additional method of
treatment under suitable conditions in residential institutions, as an investigation
of the cases while they were under trial did not justify its continuance to outpatients.
