A return of attacks of the disease during the past ten years is given in the following statement:.

The deaths during the year numbered 10, and were equal to the very high rate
of 77 per cent. of the cases notified.
Public Health (Pneumonia, Malaria, Dysentery, etc.) Regulations, 1919.

These Regulations came into force on the 7th January, 1919, and during the past 5 years the following cases were notified by medical practitioners to the Medical Officer of Health:-

ISLINGTON (CHICKEN-POX) REGULATIONS, 1930.
With regard to the reasons for the introduction of these regulations, these
have been dealt with under the heading of "Smallpox," page 36. They came into
operation on the 24th March, 1930, and from that time to the end of the year 610
cases were thus notified under these regulations.
DYSENTERY.
No case of Dysentery was notified during the year.
GLANDERS, ANTHRAX AND HYDROPHOBIA IN MAN.
Order under Section 55 of the Public Health (London) Act, 1921, by the
London County Council. (Came into operation on the
26th April, 1909.)
No case was known in Islington during the year.
Acute Encephalitis Lethargica and Acute Polio-Encephalitis.
These diseases became notifiable under an Order of the Local Government
Board on the 1st January, 1919. During the year 4 cases of Acute Encephalitis
Lethargica were known, but only 2 were notified. They showed a decrease of 4
on the return of the previous year, whilst no deaths were registered.
