2. Open Air Lectures were held at Highbury Corner on May 22nd, June 3rd
and 19th, July 3rd, 17th and 31st, and September 18th.
3. Lectures were delivered in the Library Hall at Thornhill Square and Manor
Gardens on the 11th and 18th November.
4. Lecture held at Caledonian Road Baths in January, 1930, the subject being
" Deferred Payment."
DEATHS FROM COAL.GAS POISONING.
During the year 13 deaths were registered from asphyxia caused by the
inhalation of carbon.monoxide gas. Twenty.five deaths from the same cause
occurred in 1929.
Twelve of these deaths were attributable to suicide, while the cause of the
remaining death was accidental, which was investigated at the request of the
Ministry of Health.
Of the 13 deaths, 11 were males and 2 females, the ages ranging from 25 to
75 years.
ACCIDENTAL DEATHS.
The deaths due to accident numbered 144. Of this number 59 deaths were
ascribed to vehicular traffic and 51 to accidental falls, including 43 aged people.
The 59 deaths due to accidents in vehicular traffic may be summarised as
follows:.

Of this number, l6 deaths occurred to Islington residents when in outlying
districts.
In addition to these, 8 non.residents were also killed by vehicles within the
borough.
INQUESTS AND MORTUARY.
During the year 279 bodies were received into the Mortuary, as compared
with an average of 302 in the preceding 10 years.
Only two infectious bodies were received during the year.
The daily average number of bodies received was 0.7, whilst in 1929 the
average was 0.8.
