During the year 1929 in addition to the samples taken and submitted to the
Public Analyst there was a total of 893 informal samples which were examined by
the Food and Drugs Inspector. These informal samples comprised a number of
varied articles.
The greatest amount of detected adulteration occurred in the second quarter
of the year, as shown by the figures given in the statement below, when it was
22.0 per cent, and contrasted with 3.2, 11.3 and 1.0 per cent., respectively, in the
first, third and fourth quarters.
