Acute Poliomyelitis.

Three cases were notified from this disease druing the year, as contrasted with none in 1928, and 6 in 1927.

Epidemic Cerebro-Spinal Meningitis.
Nine cases came to the knowledge of the Medical Officer of Health, although
only 6 were notified, as against 4 in 1928. During the ten years 1919-28 the cases
averaged 8 per annum.

A return of attacks of the disease during the past ten years is given in the following statement:—

The deaths during the year numbered 4 and were equal to the very high rate
of 44 per cent. of the cases notified.
Public Health (Pneumonia, Malaria, Dysentery, etc.) Regulations, 1919.

These Regulations came into force on the 7th January, 1919, and during the past 5 years the following cases were notified by medical practitioners to the Medical Officer of Health :—
