Of the 25 deaths, 22 were males and 3 females, the ages ranging from 25 to
75 years.
The Medical Officer of Health at the request of the Editor of " First Aid " (a
journal circulating among ambulance workers), gave permission to reprint in their
columns his notes on " Poisoning from Coal and Exhaust Gases."
ACCIDENTAL DEATHS.
The deaths due to accident numbered 149. Of this number 58 deaths were
ascribed to vehicular traffic and 52 to accidental falls, including 42 aged people.

The 58 deaths due to accidents in vehicular traffic may be summarised as follows :—

Motor Car or Lorry.Bus or Tram.Taxi-cab.Other Vehicles.Total.

Of this number, 27 deaths occurred to Islington residents when in outlying
districts.
In addition to these, 10 non-residents were also killed by vehicles within the
borough.
INQUESTS AND MORTUARY.
During the year 306 bodies were received into the Mortuary, as compared
with an average of 315 in the preceding 10 years.
Only four infectious bodies were received during the year.
The daily average number of bodies received was 0.8, whilst in 1928 the
average was 0.7.

In 246 cases inquests were held, as contrasted with an averageof 289 in the ten years 1919-28.
