Examination of the infant deaths of 1958 shows that two deaths occurred in the first
week of life, one due to pneumonia, and one to tentorial tear.
Of the four children dying between the age of one and three months, three had congenital
heart disease.
In the case of three of the infants the home addresses were outside England and Wales.
