dead persons where it appears that no suitable arrangements for the disposal
of the bodies are being made. Where such persons die in hospital, however,
arrangements for burial may be made by the Regional Hospital Board, and
where such persons die in welfare homes (previously known as Public Assistance
Institutions) responsibility for burial remains with the London County Council.

support shown me by the Chairman and members of the Public Health and
Maternity and Child Welfare Committees, and chief officers of the Council
and to thank the staff of my Department for their loyal assistance throughout
the year.
J. A. STRUTHERS,
Medical Officer of Health.
