During the year the Department was to some extent re-organised and an
attempt made, so far as present conditions and the shortage of staff allow, to
return to pre-war standards. The full effects of these efforts will not, however,
be felt until later.
It gives me pleasure to express my thanks to the Chairmen, and members
of the Public Health and Maternity and Child Welfare Committees for their
support in the task of meeting the changing demands made upon the local
health services by post-war conditions.
J. A. STRUTHERS,
Medical Officer of Health.
