Pre-school Children.
During the year 1935 , 51 of the children who attended the Pre-school Clinic
on Monday afternoons were found to be under normal weight and height for
their respective ages and types, while 41 were over weight and height. The rest
were about normal.
The alimentary disorders suffered by the children consisted of constipation in
13 cases, diarrhœa in 3, one of which was a case of diarrhœa and vomiting, and
threadworms in 8, while there was 1 case each of cœliac disease and mucous colitis,
both of which children are undergoing hospital treatment. Two cases of umbilical
bernia were treated by strapping and are improving. Seven children suffered from
impetigo, 5 from lichen urticatus, 4 from eczema, while 2 had warts. There
were 5 cases of boils and 2 were infested by pediculus capitis.
