Rag Flock Acts, 1911 and 1928.
There are no premises in the Borough on which rag flock, as defined by the
above Acts, is manufactured, used or sold.
The Shops Act, 1934.
This Act came into force on the 30th December, 1934. It applies to retail
and wholesale shops and warehouses. The Act contains provisions for the health
and comfort of shop workers, dealing with ventilation, temperature, lighting,
sanitary conveniences, washing facilities and facilities for taking meals, if these
have to be taken in the shop.
The responsibility was placed on Metropolitan Borough Councils for the
administration of the sections dealing with ventilation, heating and the provision
of sanitary conveniences. The Act requires adequate means of ventilation and
lighting to be provided and maintained and, unless the shop is specially exempt,
suitable and sufficient sanitary conveniences must be provided for those employed
in or about the shop.
