During the year 18 funerals were carried out under the National
Assistance Act, 1948.
In July the Council entered into an agreement with a firm of undertakers
for the carrying out of all funerals or cremations in the Borough
in those cases where no suitable private arrangements were being made.
This agreement replaced the previous temporary arrangements with two
firms of undertakers.
