Factories Act, 1937.
Section 128 of the Act requires every Medical Officer of Health
in his Annual Report specially to report on the administration of these
Acts and to send a copy of his Annual Report to the Secretary of
State. It is the statutory duty of the Borough Council to keep a
Register of all Factories situated within their district, with respect to
which the Council is responsible for the enforcement of any of the
provisions of Part 1 of the Act.
At the close of the year there were 510 Factories on the Register.
287 inspections were made and 52 written notices were served. It was
not found necessary to institute legal proceedings in any case.
