first month, 23 per cent. of the mothers had not received ante-natal
supervision. Of the 23 deaths between 2 months and one year, 61
per cent. had never attended an infant welfare centre : 2 had had no
fixed abode and 3 were found abandoned.
Of the 52 still births, 46 of the mothers had received ante-natal
supervision, either by general practitioners, at hospitals, or at the
Council's Clinics.
There were 13 deaths of illegitimate children under two years of
age, which represents a Mortality Rate of 69 per 1.000 illegitimate
births as compared with 33 for legitimate children.

Convalescent Homes.
