SUMMARY OF STATISTICS
The following statistical information relating to the Borough has been compiled from the
Local and National Statistics issued by the Registrar-General in connection with population, live
births, stillbirths and deaths.
The "Area comparability" factors for use with crude births and death rates contain adjustments
for boundary changes and make allowances for the way in which the sex and age distribution
of the local population differs from that for Ehgland and Wales as a whole. In addition, the death
rate "Area comparability" factors have been adjusted specifically to take account of the presence
of any residential institutions in each area. When local crude birth and death rates are multiplied
by the appropriate "Area comparability" factor, they are comparable with the crude rate for England
and Wales or with the corresponding adjusted rate for any other area.
