Food & Drugs Act, 1955.
Legal proceedings were taken in one case under Section 8 of the Food & Drugs Act, 1955,
resulting in a penalty of £25 and costs of £2. A large quantity of food which, although unsound,
did not call for action under Section 9, was voluntarily surrendered. A list of the commodities and
the amount involved are shown in an Appendix — see Table 27, p. 104.
During the year 58 complaints were received from members of the general public in connection
with food purchased in the Borough. The following summary shows the action taken after
full investigation in each case:-
