EPIDEMIOLOGY
Notification of Infectious Diseases
583 cases of infectious diseases were notified during the year. 78 cases were
removed to hospital and of this number 3 were notified on discharge as not having
suffered from the condition originally notified. As a result, the corrected number
of cases of notifiable infectious diseases for the year was 580.
These figures show a decrease on the previous year of 1,095 cases. This is
largely due to the fact that there were many fewer cases of Measles. Whooping
Cough, Pneumonia and Dysentery showed a decrease. There was, however, a slight
rise in the number of cases of Puerperal Pyrexia and Scabies. Full details are
given under age groups in the following table:—
