" HEALTH WEEK EXHIBITION."
In October a Health Exhibition was held at the Town
Hall.
The Exhibition was officially opened by Sir Arthur
Salusbui v MacNalty. K.C.B., M.A., M.D., F.R.C.P.,
D.P.H., Chief Medical Officer, Ministry of Health and
Board of Education, who was supported by His Worship
the Mayor, Alderman John Rooke, J.P., Councillor A.
Belsham, Deputy Mayor, and other members of the
Borough Council. The Chair was taken by His Worship
the Mayor.
Sir Arthur Salusbury MacNalty said he was very glad of
the opportunity of paying tribute to the good work being
done in Hammersmith. He was fully aware of the initiative
and the persistent zeal shown in the Borough towards the
betterment of the health of its inhabitants. A progressive
authority is not content merely to carry out the minimum
duties required by Acts of Parliament. Any real progress
in national health could not be made without public support
and for this reason he had much pleasure in supporting
the Health Exhibition in Hammersmith.
Eighteen stalls were erected in the Large Hall, cooking
demonstrations were held twice daily in the Committee
Boom whilst the Council Chamber was used for lectures
and films—two lectures being given each day, with the
exception of Monday when one was given in the evening.
