Dr. Rolleston, the Medical Superintendent of the Western
Fever Hospital, gave an address on "Infectious Diseases"
more particularly with regard to diphtheria and scarlet
fever.
The meeting was very well attended, about 50 doctors
being present.
After Dr. Rolleston's talk questions were invited and a
general discussion followed.
At the conclusion thanks were accorded by those present
to the lecturer for his address and to the Public Health
Department for making the arrangements.
The hope was expressed that similar meetings should
be held in the future, and as closer co-operation between
medical practitioners and the Public Health Department
has always been, in my opinion, very desirable, it is my
intention to arrange similar gatherings at suitable
intervals.
The chair was taken by Alderman Dr. W. H. Burnhill,
Chairman of the Public Health Committee.
In pursuance of the Transfer of Powers (London) Order,
1933, the undermentioned services were transferred from
the London County Council to the Metropolitan Borough
Councils as and from 1st April, 1933:—
Public Health Services.
1. Licensing, inspection and supervision of seamen's
lodging houses.
2. Registration, licensing, inspection and regulation
of common lodging houses.
8. Licensing of dairymen to use premises as cow-
horses.
