The total number of refills performed by the Tuberculosis
Officer either in the Hospital clinic or in the dispensary,
for the year 1933 was 178.
Previously a charge of 10s. 6d. per refill was payable
by the Hammersmith Borough Council to Brompton Hospital
for this treatment, so that under the new organisation
an equivalent sum had been saved.
The success of this clinic is now well established, and
all future cases referred from institutions will be carried
out at the above Hospital.
In the working of this Hospital clinic, our thanks are
due to the Medical Superintendent and the Staff for their
valuable support and co-operation.
Cases that are unable to attend at the Hospital clinic are
treated at the dispensary by special appointment with the
Tuberculosis Officer, and X-ray control is carried out at
the Hospital at suitable times.
Two such cases attended the dispensary during 1933,
and the total number of their refills being 10.
Home nursing is provided through the District Nursing
Association.
" Sanocrysin Treatment."
Injections for sanocrysin, and the allied gold salts, are
carried out at the Dispensary, either on the recommendation
for continuation of treatment by Medical Superintendents
of Sanatoria, or when the Tuberculosis Officer considers
such treatment to be indicated for dispensary
patients.
The total number of sanocrysin injections made during
the year was 20.
According to the dosage used, these injections cost about
1s. per injection, as against a charge of 3s. made by outside
Institutions, thus representing a saving of 2s. per injection,
when carried out at the Dispensary.
