School Health Service—Social Work
Social workers in the School Health Service are jointly employed
by the Inner London Education Authority and the Borough. They
aim at giving a case-work service to the school clinics and special
schools in the Borough (other than the E.S.N, schools). During the
past year there has been an increase in the numbers attending
the special investigation and audiology clinics.
The future position of the school health social workers is
unsettled and no decision has yet been made as to whether they
will be part of the Social Services Department or not. They continue
to work in close liaison with the Social Services and with
the Education Welfare Service.
