Food Hygiene (General) Regulations, 1960
In compliance with Regulations 16 and 19, which deal with the provision of wash-hand basins and the provision of facilities for washing food and equipment respectively, the following table gives details of the fitments introduced into food premises as grouped in trade categories:—

Bakehouses
At the end of the year, 12 premises in the Borough were being
used as bakehouses, none of which was underground.
Bakehouses and bakers' shops were visited on 16 occasions and,
as a result of the inspections, 4 sanitary defects were remedied.
Catering Establishments
As a result of 459 visits of inspection to the catering establishments,
insanitary conditions were remedied and improvements,
mainly redecoration and cleansing of kitchens, were effected on
96 occasions.
Thirty-eight improvements were carried out at public houses as
a result of informal action.
