The number of notified cases of tuberculosis remaining on the Register at 31st December, 1965, was as follows: —

During the current year in co-operation with the Greenwich
and Woolwich Chest Clinics, the comprehensive checking of each
case on the respective registers was continued. Many cases about
which nothing has been heard for at least five years and who
were found to have removed from the district and many more
considered by the Chest Physicians to have recovered, were
extracted from the registers. The result can be seen by a comparison
of the above table with the combined totals of 2,110
pulmonary and 142 non-pulmonary for Greenwich and Woolwich
at the end of 1964.
CHEST CLINIC REPORTS
Greenwich Chest Clinic
I am indebted to Drs. P. Forgacs and D. G. Wraith, Consultant
Physicians at the Greenwich Chest Clinic, for the following
Report: —
"Twenty-three new cases of pulmonary tuberculosis were
notified during the year. This includes 15 males of whom 10 were
over the age of 40 and 5 between 20 and 40. There were 8
females all of whom, except one, were below the age of 40. Two
of these were aged 12 and 14 but there were no other children
found to have tuberculosis. Three cases of non-pulmonary tuberculosis
were notified, all males, two with tuberculous glands and
one with meningitis.
During the year all the patients on our Pulmonary Tuberculosis
Register have been reclassified into one of the following
three groups: —
1. Patients known to be infectious.
2. Potentially infectious patients, i.e., those who might relapse
and become infectious.
3. Patients unlikely to relapse, i.e., healed tuberculosis.
The new register will now only consist of the patients in the first
two categories.
