TRAINING COURSES
This year a variety of courses were attended by staff both
administrative and professional from all services. Whilst some
of these courses are statutory requirements, noticeably in the case
of the nursing services, the offer of a wide range of other noncompulsory
courses reflects the department's awareness of the need
for fully trained staff, and the necessity for staff already trained,
to keep abreast of the latest developments. There is no doubt of
the value of these courses in ensuring that the services given to
the public are of the highest standard.
The duration of the courses varied from 1 day to 1 or 2 years
and the method of study from day or "block" release to full time
release. Members of the staff were seconded on full salary with
full course fees paid.
