SUMMARY OF ACTIVITIES
A.—Circular Letter to Local Organisations
During the summer months a circular letter offering the
services of the Health Education Section was prepared and distributed to all local organisations in the Borough. The letter offered
to any meeting in the area film shows, talks, or a combination
of both on the work of professional staff in the Department or
on specific health education topics. In addition, the letter offered
displays at any bazaar or fete organised in the Borough with
supplies of leaflets and instruction in home safety.
Film Shows and Talks—Response to the letter was very
satisfactory and a total of 142 visits were made to organisations.
Average attendances were just under 40 per meeting although this
varied tremendously from organisation to organisation. Pensioners audiences were highest in percentage. Programmes were
weil received and several letters of appreciation were gained.
Thanks are due to the staff of the Department who ably and
willingly gave of their time to speak on their work or aspects
of it. The popularity of talks or talks with films bears silent
tribute to this service.
The following tables give an indication of the subjects
covered, audience attendance and types of groups.
