A total of 457 new dwellings were built during 1965.
The first fully Industrialised Building Scheme undertaken by
the Council was nearing completion by the end of the year. This
pilot scheme, comprising 88 fiats, was commenced on the 23rd
November, 1964, and it is envisaged that this will be the forerunner of many such schemes to be carried out by this modern
method of construction.
The third stage of the Glyndon Area Redevelopment got under
way with the commencement of 204 dwellings in April.
