regarding replacements, adaptations or new appliances to be
installed and costs of installation. Only the number of dwellings
involved and the total costs of work eligible for grant will be
required in future.
During the current year, the Poisons Order, 1965, added
certain substances to Parts I and II of the Poisons List and the
Poisons Rules, 1965, were amended to accommodate these additions
and also to take into account other amendments insofar as
they applied to Part II of the Poisons List.
Sanitary Circumstances of the Area
The tables on pages 222 to 223 summarise, as far as possible,
the sanitary work of the Department; from these it will be seen
that a total of 29,788 houses and premises have been inspected or
re-inspected during the year; 174 Intimation, 800 Preliminary and
358 Statutory or Abatement Notices were served. Registered complaints
numbered 5,629.
Factories Act, 1961.—During the year 101 inspections were
made by the Council's Inspectors in relation to the 749 registered
factories. The latter figure includes 93 premises where mechanical
power is not used.
Defects were found in 4 instances, all of which were
remedied.
